Gender differences in internet addiction: A study on variables related to its possible development

Internet addiction and its related variables (i.e., internet gaming addiction, social media fear of missing out, phubbing) have mostly been investigated in the general population without considering possible gender differences. The present study aimed to investigate specific characteristics men women development pathological behaviors addiction. A total 276 participants (of ages ranging from 18 30 years old) were recruited (46.7% males) responded online questionnaires on psychological traits. results showed that represents a key factor explaining why individuals are addicted different ways. Stepwise linear regression analyses both genders shared as primary predictor but also exclusive predictors for each gender. Knowing underlying Addiction can be useful prevention treatment tailoring intervention this addictive behavior.
